Shannon Hurn says West Coast are in good health as they prepare for Friday night’s semi-final clash against Geelong.
Speaking to 6PR’s Sportsday WA team, Hurn believed the Eagles were hitting near-full health at the right time of the year.
“We’re in reasonably good health, which is really good,” Hurn said.
“Sometimes it’s not that you have a choice because injuries pop up, sometimes they don’t.
“But for us I think we’ve been reasonably fortunate that it just happens that this time of year everyone’s played a fair bit of footy and there’s no real long-term injuries.
“The only one we’ve got is Jarrod Brander but apart from that everyone is available which is great.
“We saw with the WAFL Eagles the last couple of weeks and also in the AFL we had a full list to be able to pick from, so that’s really pleasing.”
Forwards Willie Rioli, Jamie Cripps and Josh Kennedy all missed time throughout the year with injuries, but were instrumental in West Coast’s win over Essendon, combining for nine of the Eagles’ 17 goals.
Hurn believed the Eagles’ forward line had come good in the second half of the season.
“It’s pleasing to see our forward line function well,” he said.
“Josh this year has been working through a couple of injury issues.
“But I reckon now he’s got his match fitness up and the player that he is he’s always going to be a threat so it was great to see him play a good game because he contributes a lot to us.”
