Lewis Jetta showcased every aspect of his football arsenal and was a joy to watch in 2019. Whether he was stationed in the defensive goal square or bounding out of the defensive 50, Jetta used his lethal right boot to get West Coast out of trouble and on the front foot. He attempted kicks that most players wouldn’t consider and, more often than not, hit his target on the chest. Calm under pressure, Jetta never appeared to raise a sweat when the heat was on. When others might panic, he simply hit the burners to evade would be tacklers, giving himself just enough time to find an appropriate option. He set a new personal best mark for average metres gained (434.1), disposal efficiency (80.3 per cent) and rebound 50s (3.8).
Standout performance: Gains against the Dogs
Jetta was on-song against the Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in round 11. The silky 30-year-old got his hands on the ball 23 times and gained a stunning 627 metres with his elite ball use. He also amassed five inside 50 entries, four score involvements and three intercepts in a trademark display that helped the Eagles record a percentage-boosting 59-point victory in front of the blue and gold faithful.
