Exciting young midfielder Bella Lewis will play her 50th AFLW game against Sydney on Saturday, also her 50th game in the blue and gold.
Lewis becomes just the third West Coast Eagle to play 50 AFLW games for the club, behind Belinda Smith and Emma Swanson who both reached the impressive milestone earlier this season.
“It’s really special, I feel grateful to do it with this club,” Lewis said.
“I love being a one-club player, it’s what I want to do for the rest of my career and to reach 50 games at a young age, I just want to keep building those games up and up.
“The support that we’ve had around us since I was drafted has been incredible, and what the club has done for the program, especially in the last couple of years, it’s been extremely easy to stay loyal.
“I just love the group and love this club so much.”
Lewis was drafted to West Coast in 2020 and made club history in 2021 when she won both the Club Champion and Best First Year Player award in the same season, making her one of the most decorated AFLW players at the club.
At just 21 years of age, Lewis has risen as a key figurehead and leader both on and off the field and is currently in her second season as vice-captain, a huge testament to her character, maturity and leadership.
Lewis is a tough, quick and strong midfielder, who plays a pivotal role in the Eagles’ engine room, and the Claremont Tigers product continues to grow and develop from week to week.
