More than 30 primary schools enjoyed a visit from West Coast Eagles stars yesterday, as they were presented with their 2011 Eagles Cup trophies.

The entire West Coast Eagles squad divided and conquered, splitting up to cover primary schools all over Perth who were the winning Eagles Cup schools for 2011.

The players presented each school with their Eagles Cup trophy, thanked the students for being involved in the program and spent some time having a chat and taking photos with the students and teachers.

Eagles Cup, which is a joint initiative between the West Coast Eagles, BHP Billiton and the West Australian Football Commission, is WA’s premier primary inter-school competition for year five to seven students.

“Eagles Cup is just a great way to stay fit, active and healthy,” said West Coast star Josh Kennedy

“It’s great for kids to be able to come together, have a common goal and enjoy each other’s company.

“The main thing about the competition is team work and helping each other out; it’s not just about your footy skills,” he said.

Thanks to the West Coast Eagles principle community partner BHP Billiton, the Eagles Cup competition has become more popular every year, with more than 12,000 primary school students competing this year, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern to the Goldfields.

With schools from all across Western Australia participating, the West Coast Eagles along with BHP Billiton look forward to continuing their work in encouraging kids to get involved and enjoy being active.
