Midfield recruit Jack Graham and spearhead Jake Waterman are both chances to face Fremantle in Sunday’s RAC Derby.

Graham was unable to take his place against Brisbane in round two due to a hip issue but is a test to play in his first crosstown clash with the Dockers.

“Jack presented with some hip joint soreness on Friday last week and we gave him every chance to play on Sunday but he didn’t quite get up,” High Performance Manager Mat Inness told westcoasteagles.com.au.

“The plan is for him to train this Thursday and if he gets through he will be available this weekend.”

Waterman was ruled out of round two after battling a back-related calf issue.

“Jake trained with the main group today which is good news. He still has a few boxes to tick prior to being available, so is a test for this weekend,” Inness said.

After exiting the concussion protocols, Coen Livingstone will be available this weekend.

Jack Hutchinson (hamstring) and Callum Jamieson (knee/ankle) are progressing into training drills following their respective injuries.

“Jack has started to integrate into the lower level drills after his hamstring strain. He is still a few weeks away from returning to play, but is ticking every box we are asking of him to date,” Inness said.

“Cal Jamieson is integrating back into drills. Due to him missing all of pre-season, he is now in a reconditioning phase, but we are hopeful of seeing him back on the field in the next month or so.”

Young wingman Campbell Chesser’s return date is yet to be determined following ankle surgery.

“We are continuing to assess Campbell for a return-to-play timeline after his ankle surgery and we should have more clarity on that next week,” Inness said.
