All-Australian forward Liam Ryan has been named in the first selection of players in the 2025 Indigenous All Stars team to take on the Fremantle Dockers in an exhibition match early next year.

The 2018 premiership Eagle has been a pillar of the West Coast forward line, his incredible high-flying marks and quick and crafty ball skills keeping the fans on the edge of their seats from week to week.

“It means a lot. To be Indigenous and to get to be a part of this, it’s massive and it really means a lot,” Ryan said of his selection.

“To play with the best Indigenous players around the competition, you don’t know what could happen, and there’s a few blokes I’d love to play alongside like Shai Bolton, ‘Kozzy’ (Kysaiah) Pickett and Bobby Hill.

“I’ve always wanted to play in an Indigenous All Stars game, seeing the likes of Buddy Franklin, Adam Goodes, Eddie Betts and Cyril Rioli playing in those games, it made me want to play.”

The star-studded All-Stars will assemble and play together for the first time since 2015, with the match taking place at Optus Stadium on Saturday, February 15, ahead of the 2025 premiership season.

This exciting occasion is a celebration of the rich Indigenous culture within the sport, and the outstanding contributions Indigenous players have made and continue to make across the League.

It also serves as inspiration for young Indigenous players, with the hope of encouraging higher interest and participation rates from Indigenous communities.

Players will also take part in a three-day Indigenous camp around the match.

The last time the All Stars united for a match was against the Eagles in 2015, with Shaun Burgoyne captaining his team to victory at Leederville Oval in front of 10,000 fans.

Tickets to the Indigenous All Stars vs Fremantle Dockers clash in February go on sale via Ticketmaster from 12:00pm WST on Wednesday, December 18 for Club and AFL members, with the general public able to purchase tickets from 3:00pm WST that day.
