The West Coast Eagles are pleased to announce experienced coach Jamie Maddocks as the AFL program’s new Head of Development.
Maddocks has been the Western Bulldogs’ Head of Development for the past five seasons, after joining the club as a development coach and opposition analyst in 2015.
He previously worked in the underage talent pathways programs at Vic Metro, Oakleigh Chargers and Dandenong Stingrays.
Maddocks will be tasked with maximising the growth from West Coast’s emerging band of young players as the Eagles build towards their next era of success.
“I have a lot of respect for the club’s history and its culture,” Maddocks said.
“Obviously there are new staff coming, new ideas, new scenery, a new adventure and the way the club is shaping up it’s really exciting.
“I have a lot of enthusiasm to get over there and get to work with the club’s young, emerging players.”
Maddocks joins a revamped West Coast coaching group under new Senior Coach Andrew McQualter, and will work alongside Jacob Brennan (Development Coach – Forwards) and returning club great Shannon Hurn (Development Coach – Game Fundamentals).
“Jamie has a passion for helping players be the best they can be,” General Manager Football Gavin Bell said.
“He has a proven track record of developing players to achieve their potential and is another experienced coach we can add to our group.
“We look forward to welcoming him and his family to the club next month as we head into an important pre-season training phase.”
Meanwhile, Steve Trewhella will continue overseeing the WAFL Eagles program in 2025, supporting coach Kyal Horsley.
“We are pleased Steve will lead our WAFL Eagles program as Football Manager,” Bell said.
“The club is committed to building a standalone team that is competitive every week, provides the best development outcomes for our players and has the best possible off-field support around them to achieve their potential.”
