The West Coast Eagles confirm defender Jeremy McGovern has suffered a minor punctured lung and fractured rib from an incident in Sunday’s clash with Melbourne at the MCG.
McGovern was unable to fly home with the team on Sunday evening after being sent to hospital for scans.
He was discharged from hospital on Sunday evening but remains in Melbourne with a club staff member and will do so until medically cleared for air travel.
“The club is working on arrangements for Jeremy to return home as soon as possible following medical advice,” General Manager Football Gavin Bell said.
“Gov’s health and wellbeing is our priority and his return to playing will be determined in due course, but at this stage we are not expecting him to be available against Brisbane on Sunday.”
