The West Coast Eagles will challenge Harley Reid’s two-game sanction at the AFL Tribunal.

Reid was cited by the Match Review Officer for rough conduct (first offence) after his tackle on St Kilda’s Darcy Wilson during the third quarter of Saturday’s match at Optus Stadium.

The incident was graded as Careless Conduct, High Impact and High Contact, resulting in a two-game sanction with no discount for an early guilty plea.

West Coast will challenge that the level of impact should be downgraded to medium, rather than high, which would result in a one-match suspension.

If unsuccessful at the AFL Tribunal, Reid would be sidelined for matches against North Melbourne and Essendon either side of the club’s bye.

Reid was also sanctioned for two instances of careless contact with an umpire, resulting in separate $3,125 fines, which reduce to $1875 with early guilty pleas.

Key defender Harry Edwards also received a $3750 fine for rough conduct (first offence) on St Kilda forward Max King, down to $2500 with an early guilty plea.

The club has entered early guilty pleas and accepted all three fines.
