There was nothing on the line other than an opportunity to build match time conditioning but the WAFL Eagles did everything asked of them in a 47-point win over co-tenants Perth at Mineral Resources Park yesterday.
With about a dozen senior listed players strutting their stuff the Eagles won 15.7 (97) to 7.8 (50).
Young ruckman Harry Barnett was a standout while key forward Jack Williams also impressed with three goals and utility player Harvey Johnston, part of last year’s draft haul, showed poise and class with two goals.
Importantly Clay Hall, an 18-yerar-old midfield bull from Peel who was the club’s third selection at #38 in last year’s draft, got some important match play after avoiding a potentially serious ankle injury late in pre-season.
Defender Josh Rotham managed to play important minutes along with midfielder Zane Trew while Coen Livingstone also had some good moments against the club that developed him before he weas secured as a Naitanui Academy product.
