Brownlow medallists Ben Cousins and Matt Priddis will be among the stars of the past having a special kick with their kids at Optus Stadium ahead of the club’s first home game against GWS next Sunday.
Cousins, Priddis and their children will be among an assembly of West Coast Eagles royalty who will be a part of a Second Generation Academy curtain raiser.
This will continue to build on a recent tradition which is quickly growing in popularity and Eagles fans will be encouraged to get to the game early to catch the action. From the moment gates open at 1.45pm members and fans will be able to witness the event.
Other stars who have signed on for the opportunity to partake are premiership players from various eras including Dwayne Lamb (1992), Brett Heady (1992 and 1994), Michael Braun (2006), Adam Selwood (2006), Andrew Embley (2006 Norm Smith medallist), Drew Banfield (1994, 2006), Mark LeCras (2018), Sam Butler (2006), Quinten Lynch (2006) and David Wirrpanda (2006).
Hall of Famer Phil Matera and Coleman medallist Scott Cummings will also play.
The former players and their children will form a guard of honour for the team as it makes its way onto the field to tackle the Giants.
The Eagles are hoping for a large, parochial home ground welcome for the players as they strive to repeat their round two victory of last season.
