Emerging West Coast midfielder Elijah Hewett will consult a specialist physiotherapist in Melbourne as part of the conservative management of sesamoiditis in his feet.
Hewett played through discomfort during his draft year and debut AFL season, and has been on a modified pre-season training program recently.
The 19-year-old will consult with Dr Sue Mayes at the Australian Ballet to build his foot and leg strength.
High Performance Manager Mat Inness said the club is taking a long-term view to Hewett’s management by seeking to remedy his symptoms.
“Elijah has had some sesamoid pain for the last couple of years that he’s been playing with,” Inness said today.
“He’s still aware of the symptoms so we are going to send him to see a specialist physio who deals with these things regularly and we’ll provide an update in due course as to Elijah’s progress.”
