The West Coast Eagles have acquired experienced midfielder Alison Drennan after reaching a trade with Gold Coast.
The 32-year-old has landed at the Eagles in exchange for pick No.27 in the upcoming draft, which West Coast received from Fremantle as part of the deal that also secured exciting utility Roxy Roux.
Drennan has previously played at both North Melbourne and St Kilda, before joining the Suns ahead of the 2021 season.
After a breakout season in 2021, Drennan continued her impressive form, winning the Suns' AFLW Club Champion in season six before finishing runner-up in season seven.
The former track athlete is an elite runner who will also bring a physical presence to the Eagles midfield.
"It’s a wonderful outcome for the club being able to secure Ali for the next few years," AFLW List Manager Jordan Loxley said.
"Her football in the past three years has been extremely consistent, winning a best and fairest in season six and finishing third in season seven.
"Her ability to cover the ground and win the footy was something that really caught our eye, and with her ability across all three lines she will be a great acquisition for the football club."
The Eagles’ current draft hand includes picks No.2, 23, 42 and 62 with two days remaining in the 2023 AFLW Trade Period.
