Coach Adam Simpson has opted to rotate the captaincy in the absence of skipper Luke Shuey, giving a number of senior players an opportunity in the role.
Last night Liam Duggan took on the responsibility and he was more than comfortable leading the team. Alongside Tim Kelly and Oscar Allen he has probably been the Eagles most consistent player and was again his team’s best.
Duggan, who has spent much of his career at half-back, has been thrust into the under-manned midfield in recent weeks and has been prominent.
Against the Suns he had 32 possessions, eight of them contested, sent the ball inside 50 four times and gained 663 metres for his team through those disposals.
He certainly did all within his power to lift his team.
