One man who typified the heart and tenacity of the Eagles was midfielder Tim Kelly.
Aside from the obvious, with his possession numbers underpinning his efforts, the team aspects of his performance were outstanding. That started at the first bounce when he provided a screen that created a clean centre clearance which ended with a Jack Darling goal.
Kelly finished the match with 33 possessions, with 13 of them contested (a team high with Reuben Ginbey), five clearances and nine score involvements.
He was ubiquitous throughout and has started the season in great touch after an outstanding pre-season.
