West Coast youngster Brady Hough has added to his growing list of accolades after receiving the AJ (Tood) Buswell South Western Times Sports Star of the Year award in recognition of his stellar 2021.
Hough was drafted by the Eagles at the end of last year following a meteoric rise from country football, through WAFL Colts ranks and on to play senior football for Peel.
“I just wanted to try and take my footy to the next level, but I did not really know what was going to happen or where I would end up,” a humbled Hough told the South Western Times after receiving the award, with the traditional ceremony unable to take place in Bunbury due to Covid protocols.
Hough, 19, was a draft bolter last year and claimed by the Eagles with their second selection, pick No.31 overall.
The Harvey product''s remarkable development continued during his first AFL campaign, with Hough making his debut in round one and playing 15 games, highlighted by a 23-disposal effort against the Western Bulldogs in round 11.
The lifelong West Coast fan completed his first season by receiving the club's prestigious Emerging Talent award, joining an illustrious list including the likes of 2022 Club Champion Tom Barrass, Jeremy McGovern, Luke Shuey, Nic Naitanui, Chris Judd and Darren Glass.
