West Coast midfielder Jaide Britton is set to be available for the final round against Melbourne after sustaining a heavy knock last match, while Mikayla Western has received more clarity on her recovery time following surgery on her upper arm.
During the third quarter against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday, rookie midfielder Britton was assessed by medical staff after she came up unsteady from a hard tackle.
Following her walk off the field, Britton passed a concussion test and ultimately returned to play out the rest of the game.
While her training will be looked at closely by Eagles medical staff, Britton is expected to be available for selection.
“Jaide took a very heavy tackle in the third quarter last weekend,” Sailsbury said.
“However, she was assessed on the bench by the doc and was given the opportunity to return to play which is good news.
“We will monitor her through the start of the week, but she should be available to play on the weekend.”
Western is travelling well in her recovery following a broken arm sustained during round eight against Geelong.
The Claremont product was having a promising year prior to her injury, injecting her pace and power to the Eagles’ line-up.
Late in the fourth quarter against the Cats, she landed awkwardly during one of her trademark chasedown tackles and was immediately taken to hospital, where scans showed a fractured humerus which ended her breakout season.
“Mikayla came out of surgery on her broken arm last week,” Salisbury said
“She is recovering well and most importantly is in good spirits and we will anticipate her to be back for the start of pre-season next year.”
