The mature-age draftee was in the frame for a round one debut before an untimely shoulder injury in February forced him to undergo AC joint surgery.
Clark worked his way back and by round seven the moment he had dreamt of finally arrived in the form of a first game against Richmond at Optus Stadium.
Unfortunately, that encounter wasn’t a memorable one for the club given the heavy defeat, but it was a springboard for Clark to launch his AFL career having being overlooked in six national drafts.
The Subiaco star totalled nine appearances in his first campaign, including the last four as the medi-sub, with his work around the contest and tackling intent particularly impressive.
Standout performance: First up under Friday night lights
It was a national stage for Clark’s much-anticipated debut, and although the team were bitterly disappointed with a triple-figure defeat to the Tigers, Clark showed he was up to the level.
Clark was among the Eagles’ better performers on a tough night, racking up 24 disposals, with nine clearances, an equal game-high six tackles and four clearances.
