The football world – and the broader community – has marvelled at the energy and enthusiasm of former West Coast Eagles general manager of football Neale Daniher.
After being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease a couple of years ago, Daniher has put great energy and drive into awareness and raising funds in the bid to help find a cure for the insidious disease.
And he continues to enthusiastically devote himself to the cause.
While he raised about $2million directly towards aiding the quest for a cure through his ‘Freeze at the G’ promotion a couple of months ago, he is also lending his name to Daniher’s MND Drive in WA next month.
The aim of the Daniher Drive here is to raise funds for care and support of others diagnosed with the disease in WA. While Daniher cannot be here personally for the WA Drive, he will be involved in a similar event in Victoria, where he now resides.
But he’s hoping the WA community, which has been so supportive of fundraising efforts, will continue to get behind the cause because those who have been diagnosed required on-going care and support.
The event will run from Friday, October 16 to Sunday, October 18 leaving from East Fremantle Oval after a 7am Friday breakfast and will finish at Steel Blue Oval at around lunch time on the Sunday.
The round trip from Perth will include Northam and the picturesque Avon Valley while there will also be a “mystery” destination thrown in.
Vacancies remain for what looms as a fun event with the actual route remaining a secret as there will also be some surprise activities along the way.

- Registration: $150 per person, $3000 fundraising minimum per car
- Registration includes all meals and merchandise
- Accommodation, fuel and other are personal expenses
- Entertainment by up and coming Triple J artist Taylor Cutts
- Breakfast Launch at East Fremantle Football Club, ATOM Stadium 7-9am Friday 16 October
- Welcome back Family Fun Day at Swan Districts Football Club, open to General Public, 12:30-4pm Sunday 18 October
