West Coast defender Belinda Smith has fortunately come away well from an accidental collision with teammate Jessica Sedunary resulting in bruising around her ribs.
Smith went down in the first quarter against Gold Coast after receiving a knee to the ribs during a contest.
“After a knee to the ribs scans were clear for Belinda,” Head of Health Mark Finucane said.
“She was able to fly back with the team, bruised ribs is the running diagnosis and if she’s comfortable at training later in the week she’ll be available.”
After suffering a concussion in round one, forward Aimee Schmidt will also be available to return for round three if symptoms do not persist.
Schmidt entered AFL concussion protocols directly following her last match against Port Adelaide and will be cleared this week if she passes the required test.
“Aimee has been progressing well through the AFL concussion protocols,” Finucane said.
“She had a light skills session on her own while the group was away yesterday.
“She will go into main training later in the week and if she gets through that symptom-free then she will be available to play on the weekend.”
