Spearhead Ashley Hansen led Swan Districts into the 2010 WAFL Grand Final after a strong effort against East Perth last Saturday, giving Swans another opportunity to tackle premiership favourite Claremont.

The 2006 West Coast premiership forward was in good touch and played a pivotal role in his club’s 38-point triumph, while his counterpart, Ben McKinley, was unable to match his match-winning first semi-final effort against East Fremantle.

McKinley still had plenty of ball, but was not as efficient in his scoring efforts, while the only other West Coast squad member in the game, Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls finished the game strongly, but not sufficiently to keep East Perth’s winning streak intact.

Swans will now play Claremont in next Sunday’s grand final, with the Tigers having a strong selection of West Coast players in their line-up.

Ashley Hansen
Worked hard for his five goals against a good opponent in Luke Sampi. Hansen managed to have 10 shots on goal, with his three of his five majors coming in the last quarter to help seal game for Swans. A solid contributor throughout.

Ben McKinley
Did not have the same impact as he did last week against East Fremantle and battled early against Tallan Ames when at  full-forward. Was pushed out to half-forward, where he had a stronger influence on the game. Kicked three goals.

Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls
After a quiet start to the game, he was busy in the second half, racking up 17 possessions and three marks.  Used his pace in the second half and was able to exert a stronger influence on the game.
