Key midfielder Aisling McCarthy has added to her continued run of form during round one of AFLW by securing a full 10 votes from the AFL Coaches Association for Champion Player of the Year after a showstopping performance against Adelaide.

The newly minted Australian had 18 disposals and 15 kicks one of those being an electric fourth quarter goal that saw her bamboozle two defenders before bending in a difficult shot from the boundary.

She also had the monumental task of shutting down one of the league’s best in Erin Phillips who was held to 10 touches which senior coach Michael Prior praised post-match saying it played a vital part in the final result.

Skipper Emma Swanson and midfielder Isabella Lewis also received votes during round one indicating West Coast’s depth through the midfield.

All three players will look to build on their strong performances when they fly to the Gold Coast to face the Suns this Sunday September 4 at Metricon Stadium.
