In a season of wild fluctuations and unimaginable curve balls, one of the constants has been the form of key defender Tom Barrass.

Again he was outstanding on the last line, prompting coach Adam Simpson to suggest he was in all-Australian form.

He has had some big challenges, particularly in the absence of cohort Jeremy McGovern, but has shouldered the added responsibility with aplomb.

For the second week in succession Barrass headed the Eagles’ possession count with 26 touches against the Saints, with 17 kicks, nine handballs and eight marks, two of which were intercepts.

He was matched against the dangerous Max King and held him to just two goals in another impressive all-round performance.
