Defender Liam Duggan came to the club as a gifted young player with leadership qualities.
He again demonstrated those attributes to be the best Eagle afield against Carlton.
Not only did he offer strong rebound, but he produced a couple of timely goal-saving tackles, including one memorable chase down on Blues star Patrick Cripps.
Duggan had 22 disposals and eight marks to be an important cog in the back half where he teamed with games record holder Shannon Hurn to hold up reasonably well under the avalanche of Carlton forward 50 entries.
