Dual Club Champion Elliot Yeo says West Coast’s win over Essendon came off the back of hard work and the continued support from fans.
On Friday night, the team broke a nine-game losing streak against the Bombers in front of more than 40,000 fans at Optus Stadium.
Yeo said it was a special moment for the playing group and the fans.
“It’s great for the younger boys to experience a good win at home in front of fans, the roar from crowd was amazing and a lot of us haven’t experienced that,” Yeo told 96FM.
“Our fans are the most passionate supporter base going around – when ‘JK’ (Josh Kennedy) kicks a goal the roar is massive, it gets us up and helps us a fair bit.
“Off the back of hard work for multiple months and getting a few personnel back, it felt like we were building towards the win.”
While the Eagles enjoyed tasting victory again, their focus has quickly shifted to this Sunday’s clash against Richmond.
Facing the Tigers at the MCG will be a massive challenge, and West Coast’s players haven’t forgotten a 109-point home thrashing from Damien Hardwick’s side in round seven.
“There are some things we need to iron out and we will have to put in a four-quarter performance - we can’t win games off two quarters,” Yeo said.
“It’s good to get a win but now we need to quickly move on and get ready for the Tigers.
“They are playing good football. It’s going to be an interesting time – I’m looking forward to it.”
