Brilliant midfielder Luke Shuey is a likely inclusion for this week’s game against Geelong, needing only to get through training this week to push his selection case.

The major dilemma for the match committee will be to determine the best course for his return to action.

Shuey has suffered two hamstring strains in the second half of the season, re-injuring the muscle when he returned from a similar three-game absence in the round 17 match against Sydney at Patersons Stadium.

That means that in effect he has played three quarters of football in the last seven weeks. While he has not played, he has worked rigorously on the track and coaching staff have great faith in the training program.

Shuey has been listed as a test, so his training output will be monitored through the week.

Forward Mark LeCras will also be tested this week after damaging rib cartilage in the second quarter of yesterday’s clash with Essendon. He marked strongly in front of young Bomber Mark Baguley, but after a vigorous spoil, he landed on the football.

LeCras needed treatment, was assessed thoroughly at half-time and resumed to be one of the key match-winners, finishing with five goals.

Matt Priddis, Chris Masten and Jacob Brennan (Subiaco reserves), all listed as tests a week ago, played at the weekend.
