Any thoughts of Christmas ham have been well and truly put to bed with the squad returning to training this week after a fortnight's break.

This will be West Coast’s final week of training at McGillivray Oval with the players set to return to Patersons Stadium on Monday.

Vice-captain Beau Waters took part in light duties as he heals from his latest shoulder setback.

Having undergone surgery in July last year, Waters’ shoulder has become infected, forcing surgeons to prematurely remove the pins they had inserted.

Time will tell whether his shoulder has healed enough to delay the need for any further surgery.

Both Sharrod Wellingham and Jacob Brennan join Waters in the rehab group after suffering lower leg stress reactions and it will likely be three weeks before they return to the main group.

Nic Naitanui is only a fortnight away from his return and he continues to make steady progress.

Fellow ruckman Dean Cox was put through his paces on the adjacent running track and should be back to the main training group in under a week.
