Star duo Elliot Yeo and Tim Kelly are close to returning for West Coast, while emerging mid-forward Jamaine Jones will be tested before Saturday’s clash with Collingwood.

Jones was subbed out of Sunday’s RAC Derby in the late stages with a hamstring concern but the 23-year-old is a chance to board the plane to face the Magpies.

“Jamaine had a bit of tightness in his hamstring late in the game, so we didn’t want to take any risks with that. He’s had a scan and he’ll be a test later in the week,” Head of Health Mark Finucane told westcoasteagles.com.au.

Meanwhile, Kelly (hamstring) and Yeo (calf) are set to reinforce the engine room in coming weeks after their soft-tissue complaints, while mature-age draftee Greg Clark (shoulder) is also not far away.

Yeo is edging closer to his first appearance for the season, while Kelly left the track early last Friday with hamstring tightness but could be back for West Coast’s next home game on Good Friday.

“Tim cramped late in the North Melbourne game and then the first real test was at training Friday before the Derby and just didn’t feel comfortable,” Finucane said.

“He had a scan after that and we’re aiming for the Sydney game (in round five).

“Elliot’s done a good block of work and building through his football fitness and very close to seeing him back out there.

“Jamie (Cripps) and Greg are progressing through their football contact and conditioning nicely and we’re looking at seeing them in the next two-to-three weeks.

“Oscar (Allen) has been back running and we’ll see him more and more in training as he builds - over the next three or so weeks - his football conditioning.”

A little further back are SSP rookie recruit Tom Joyce and Dom Sheed, who are both close to resuming running after ankle issues, while youngster Zane Trew is back training after shin soreness.

“Joycey hasn’t progressed as quickly as we initially thought that he might. We’ll get a bit of an idea later in the week and hopefully we can start him running on the Alter-G and build from there,” Finucane said.

“Zane has been out on track and joining in to a bit more of training and we’ll see him build more and more over the next two-to-three weeks, but looking at about another three weeks for Zane.

“Dom has come out of the boot last week and is in the preparation to run phase now and hopefully on the Alter-G later this week and hopefully on-ground next week.”
