In collaboration with the West Australian Football Commission, Regional Men’s Health and Swan Districts Football Club, The West Coast Eagles led and supported a series of workshops and clinics which took place from February 26 to March 4 in a Roadshow tour of the Pilbara.

Beginning in Dampier, West Coast participated in the delivery of leadership programs, coach education sessions, junior and youth clinics, and assisted with senior club training.

The Eagles then looped through Wickham, Karratha, Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Newman before finishing in Port Hedland.

The Roadshow created learning opportunities for all involved, while assisting in volunteer capacity building and youth participation across the Pilbara.

Hedland based Youth Engagement Coordinator Clint Degebrodt was pleased with the outcomes of the Roadshow and the connection opportunities provided within each town, and across the Pilbara.

“We were keen to reinvigorate the Roadshow concept to service volunteers and engage youth hand-in-hand with the WAFC and Swan Districts throughout the Pilbara,” Degebrodt said.

“Further to the direct and immediate outcomes, the intention is to continue to enhance connection and collaboration across the region as a whole, by providing increased access to the West Coast Eagles football club and our partners.

“We achieved this and it was very valuable for our staff to be fully immersed in the challenges and beauty of the Pilbara.

"This years’ Pilbara Roadshow covered over 1,200 kilometres, engaged with over 400 people from 14 clubs and included visits to eight Pilbara towns.

“Planning is already in place to make the 2023 Roadshow bigger and better.”
