The West Coast Eagles have named a youthful list ahead of Sunday’s clash with reigning premiers, Brisbane.

Four of the Eagles’ 2021 draftees have been named in the final 21, including West Coast’s prized first pick Charlie Thomas who has played in every match this season.

Round seven debutant Emily Bennett has also held her place in the backline after doing some good things in last week’s match against Richmond, while ruck-forward Sarah Lakay and Courtney Rowley have also been named.

The onball brigade features the usual suspects in skipper Emma Swanson, Dana Hooker and Bella Lewis, but in a surprise move West Coast’s leading goalscorer Aimee Schmidt will start on the wing, with returning Ashlee Atkins to play in full forward.

In the backline informal leader Evie Gooch will play a deep defensive role alongside Ashton Hill, running half back Belinda Smith and returning defender Lauren Gauci.

Youngster Sophie McDonald also returns to the team after being sidelined from injury and will be joined on the half back line alongside versatile forward Kellie Gibson.

Hardnosed defender Maddy Collier has unfortunately succumbed to a lower leg injury and will not play in the clash against Brisbane, while Shanae Davison and Courtney Guard have been omitted.
