The West Coast Eagles will play a history-making match against the Western Bulldogs on March 5, in their first-ever Saturday night match at Optus Stadium.

The round nine clash will also be an AFLW double-header - another first at Optus - with Fremantle to take on Melbourne in the match prior.

West Coast's first AFLW victory was against the Bulldogs in round four 2020, with the Eagles narrowly holding on to clinch a four-point win at Leederville Oval.

Skipper Emma Swanson led the side with 22 disposals, eight tackles and a goal, while Hayley Bullas (six, eight, one goal) and while vice-captain Dana Hooker (19, nine tackles) were also amongst the best.

"It's really exciting for the girls to get an opportunity to play under lights for the first time at Optus Stadium," senior coach Michael Prior said.

"After an extended period on the road in Melbourne, it's good for the girls to experience a game in front of a home crowd there as well.

"I'm sure they can't wait to get out there, some of the girls haven't played at Optus before so it's definitely going to be something special.

"Fantastic for their friends and families to come and watch as well, really exciting for all involved."

Ticketing information for the round nine match will be available shortly, with bouncedown at 6:40pm (AWST), Saturday March 5.
