The West Coast Eagles’ number one draft pick Charlie Thomas made a move from the midfield to half-back in the round six clash against Collingwood and was one of the main contributors in her new defensive role.
Thomas was instrumental in holding up the Magpies’ constant offensive attack, playing a key part in holding them to 35% efficiency inside 50 from 40 entries.
Thomas finished the day with 12 disposals and five marks, as well as notching up match-best numbers in intercepts (nine).
The 18-year-old also had a further eight contested possessions and three tackles in her sixth game as an Eagle.
Thomas manned the backline with some of West Coast’s more senior players in Belinda Smith (11 disposals, nine intercepts), Ashton Hill (nine, seven) and Evie Gooch (eight, three tackles) who led by example across the day.
