Twin towers Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling headline a host of West Coast stars who will close in on major milestones in 2022.
Kennedy is just 14 goals away from becoming the 25th player in VFL/AFL history to kick 700 majors, and realistically could move into the top 20 on the all-time list if he overtakes Harry Vallence (722 for Carlton) by slotting another 37 goals.
The 34-year-old is also tantalisingly approaching the 300-game milestone, needing just another 22 appearances to reach the mark after starting his career with 22 matches at Carlton.
Darling has a pair of landmarks within sight, and barring injury should go close to kicking 500 goals in blue and gold this year.
The athletic big man needs another 50 majors to reach the target and is set to play in his 250th match towards the end of the season.
Darling and great mate Andrew Gaff are both currently on 236 appearances for the club after being drafted together in 2010.
Dynamic half-forward Jamie Cripps is also closing in on a games milestone, with the 29-year-old one match shy of his 200th career appearance (including 16 for St Kilda) and needing 17 for the double ton of Eagles appearances.
He is also just four goals short of notching his 250th career major.
And while Dom Sheed has etched his name into West Coast folkore, the Kalgoorlie product will make himself eligible for life membership in nine more games when he reaches the 150 mark.
Fresh off re-signing to remain an Eagle for life, key defender Tom Barrass is set to celebrate his 100th game for the club in round one against Gold Coast.
Tough backman Jackson Nelson is just 11 games short of the same milestone, while Tom Cole needs 22 appearances to reach the century.
Some other potential milestones in 2022 include:
- Jack Redden needs eight more appearances for 250 career games (currently 129 for Brisbane and 113 for West Coast)
- Recruit Sam Petrevski-Seton (94 games for Carlton) and Tim Kelly (48 for Geelong, 37 for the Eagles) are also closing in on 100 career matches.
