West Coast will unleash prized first-round draft pick Charlie Thomas in Tuesday's pre-season practice match against Fremantle, with the Subiaco product due to play her first game in almost a year after succumbing to a wrist injury in round one of the 2021 WAFLW season.

The classy midfielder has been named in a 29-strong extended squad, which features all players on West Coast's list, bar Kellie Gibson who is recovering from a minor ankle injury.

Thomas will feature prominently in West Coast's engine room alongside captain Emma Swanson, 2021 Club Champion Bella Lewis and fellow draftees Courtney Rowley and Sarah Lakay, who will also make their unofficial Eagles debut.

Experienced vice-captain Dana Hooker will also make her return to the Eagles' midfield, returning from a foot laceration which sidelined her for a majority of the 2021 season.

In the backline, Evie Gooch prepares to take on her former side, Fremantle, for the first time, and will be joined by 2021 draftees and key defenders in Beth Schilling and Emily Bennett.

Unlucky Eagle Ashton Hill will also make her long-awaited return to West Coast's backline after missing two seasons due to an ACL injury - sustained during West Coast's inaugural match in the AFLW competition.

Meanwhile, former GWS forward Aimee Schmidt will line up in the blue and gold for her first match at West Coast, and is in fine form after slotting four goals in an intra-club match last weekend.
