The West Coast Eagles successfully executed their Trade Period plan by holding onto their first three draft picks while bringing Sam Petrevski-Seton to the club, Recruiting and List Manager Rohan O’Brien says.

The Eagles zeroed-in on classy ball user Petrevski-Seton and got their man from Carlton in a three-way trade which involved West Coast sending pick No.52 to the Western Bulldogs.

With the Trade Period over, attention will quickly turn to next month’s NAB AFL Draft and the Eagles currently hold picks 10, 29 and 35 in the first two rounds.

“We actually planned this 12 months ago when we traded out of last year’s draft to try and get some selections in this year’s,” O’Brien said.

“To get Sam Petrevski-Seton in and keep our first three selections in the draft was the plan all along.

“It (Trade Period) might be uneventful but it’s good to get it done.”

West Coast fielded some interest in Jarrod Brander but no trade eventuated and the club will now discuss the uncontracted 22-year-old tall’s future with his management.

“There was obviously a little bit of interest around Jarrod but nothing played out,” O’Brien said.

“We’ll touch base with his management in the next few days and just discuss what the next steps are from here.”

With a little over a month until the draft, O’Brien added the Eagles would consider trading picks – which can be done until the event and then during the draft – if the club could improve its position.

The first round of the draft will be staged on Wednesday, November 24 before the remainder of the event is concluded the following evening.

“We’ve got an open mind there if someone comes to us with something or if there’s a way to potentially get up the order, whether that be in the next few weeks or on the night,” O’Brien said.
