Not only were those players who were drafted just a week ago put through a series of searching drills by Adam Simpson and his coaching staff, but the youngsters’ families were also boundary side to catch the action.

As part of the club’s induction process, the families of draftees are brought across for a weekend induction program that will culminate with those draftees who have come from interstate moving in with a host family.
In that caring environment, their home away from home, the players will attempt to make the football and life adjustments of playing elite football.
Since last Thursday night from the Gold Coast Convention Centre when Liam Duggan, Tom Lamb, Jackson Nelson and Damien Cavka enjoyed the excitement of being drafted into the West Coast Eagles family, it has been a whirlwind.
They arrived in Perth on Sunday night, trained on Monday, have bunked in with selected members of the senior leadership group and have had a brief indoctrination into the West Coast way.
Last night their parents and siblings arrived in Perth. Today they trained, went through the process of education on the expectations of elite players and will spend a weekend learning more about the club and its values.
At training this morning, the entire squad was put through a rigorous training regime and the youngsters seemed to relish the opportunity to train with their established peers.
Aside from the four draftees, rookie-listed former Carlton midfielder Kane Lucas, Irish rookie Paddy Brophy, former baseballer Corey Adamson and father-son selection Alec Waterman will also be central to the weekend induction process.
