Making her long-awaited debut in season seven, defender Sasha Goranova has shown she is a consistent force in the West Coast Eagles backline. Initially overlooked in the draft after representing Western Australia in the 2019 under-18 competition, Goranova was a train-on player for West Coast in 2021. Over the summer of 2022, the side was granted the ability to sign four mature-age players, and as a result Goranova was recruited into the squad. In her first year with the club, Goranova played all 10 games in the season and was a disruptive force against whoever she played against, averaging 3.3 tackles a game. The 22-year-old has a high work rate and a tendency for big hits and clean spoils, making her one of the more underrated defenders in the competition. Goranova suffered an ACL rupture in round six of the 2023 season, but is on track to return in the upcoming 2024 season.
