The hulking youngster lived up to expectations in his debut season, taking on some of the toughest jobs minding the AFL’s elite midfielders to fast-track his development and mixing it with the best inside the centre square. Ginbey managed 17 appearances before injuring his hamstring in the round 18 home clash against Richmond and requiring season-ending surgery. He averaged nearly 14 disposals and six tackles per game and was rewarded with a Rising Star nomination in round three after his 20-disposal, 13-contested possession and eight tackle display in the RAC Derby. The Eagles were ecstatic when Ginbey was still available at their first selection in the 2022 NAB AFL Draft, pick No.9 overall, and the club's recruiters swooped on the Dunsborough Sharks product without hesitation. He was named West Coast’s Emerging Talent winner last year and is leading the next generation set to take the club forward.
