West Coast WAFL captain and Community and Game Development Officer, Hamish Brayshaw, has joined a team of elite WA business leaders for Foodbank WA’s Meal Makers event.
From August 16-20, Brayshaw will participate in cooking lessons with five of Perth’s most revered chefs to help raise funds and provide 300,000 meals for West Australians in need.
Order of Australia recipient Kate Lamont, Wildflower Head Chef Matthew Sartori, MasterChef's Jenny Lam, Melissa Palinkas and Chris Anca will host the class, with Brayshaw in attendance alongside a number of participants.
The chefs will then enter Foodbank WA's Community Kitchen to cook and prepare 2,500 meals for hungry West Australian residents.
Brayshaw is thrilled to be given the opportunity to be a part of this important initiative.
“Obviously aiming for Michelin star quality but I’m really just looking forward to cooking up a storm to help West Aussies in need," Brayshaw said.
"If you can, please help out by donating to this 'grate' cause!”
Covid-19 has turned life upside down for a broad cross-section of the community with many of those seeking food relief for the first time. Three out of ten Australians experiencing food insecurity last year had not gone hungry before the pandemic. The demand for food relief from Foodbank WA continues to grow in 2021.
As a new recruit, Hamish has some catching up to do on the leaderboard, but he has a good chance of lifting the figures with your help!
