West Coast Eagles excitement machine Willie Rioli is in the running to win the round 19 Goal of the Year nomination after nailing a masterful major against North Melbourne at Optus Stadium on Saturday.

Rioli sent the blue and gold army into rapture when he coolly crumbed a soccered ball from teammate Jake Waterman, stepped one defender, dodged a smother and snapped truly on his right boot from 10 metres out.

It was an extraordinary effort that put the Eagles 10 points ahead midway through the opening quarter.
