The loyalty and passion of the Eagles supporter base has again been underlined with the club surpassing the magical 100,000 membership mark for the second year in succession.

Again the club leads the AFL ladder in terms of financial members, with the official reported number of 106,422 released by the AFL today.

That is up from the record of 101,275 that was set last year, despite the fact the club spent long periods of the season in a Queensland hub.

Only West Coast and Richmond have broken the 100,000 membership barrier in the AFL.

“As a club we are humbled by the committed support from our membership base,” said Trevor Nisbett, Chief Executive Officer, today.

“To achieve six figure membership in that last two years has been extraordinary and quite overwhelming.

“Our fans are among the most loyal and passionate in the league, they have been like that for decades and we really appreciate their commitment to our club.

“One of our objectives is to make our members proud of the things we do – both on and off-field– and while that doesn’t always go according to plan on game day, we strive every day for improvement.

“I would like to thank each of those 106,422 members for their unwavering support.”
