The Eagles' WAFL team took home a gritty two-point win against East Perth on Saturday afternoon after leading by 38 points at three quarter time.

"A really strong performance, continuing on from what we've been doing for the past five or six weeks, the boys did a lot of good work in the first three quarters to set us up for the game," WAFL coach Daniel Pratt said.

"Fortunately we got over the line, but there are some learnings from the last quarter for our AFL-listed and WAFL-listed players to take into future games.

"Credit to East Perth, they fought hard all day."

Jackson Nelson

32 disposals, six marks, nine tackles, one goal

Was probably close to our best player on the day, played inside mid which is a different role for him, had some really good moments, his work-rate was first class, finished with a goal.

Alex Witherden & Luke Foley

25 disposals, eight marks, three tackles & 25 disposals, four marks, three tackles

Were both really strong across half-back, they defended really well and set some of our aggressive ball movement up, which made us look sharp at times.

Ben Johnson

22 disposals, four marks, two tackles, one goal

Had another strong game, really took the game on with his speed and ball movement, and he's defending better every week. He also finished with a goal off of half-back.

Brayden Ainsworth

21 disposals, two marks, two tackles, one goal

Had a really good first half and received a tag after that, so that was great learning for him on how to deal with a tag. He also finished with a goal, a really dominant performance.

Isiah Winder

19 disposals, three marks, one goal

Played a bit of midfield and forward, he's built really well over his three weeks back in the WAFL after injury. He's looking confident and his class shone through at times on the weekend.

Bailey Williams

13 disposals, two marks, one goal

Played forward and ruck and had a really good battle with Scott Jones in the ruck when he was there. Their defenders put a lot of time into him, so gave him an opportunity to work on his craft and test things out.

Nathan Vardy

31 hitouts, seven marks, five tackles, three goals

Played like a leader on the weekend, also had a really good battle with Scott Jones when he was in the ruck. Finished with three goals, probably our best player on the day. He's leading really well as an experienced player.

Callum Jamieson

Seven disposals, two marks, three tackles

We started him forward, he played a little bit in the ruck in the first half. In the second half we played him down back with our talls, just to give him a different look with his development. He had three or four contests in the last which helped us seal the game. Real critical contests, so it was good to see one of our younger players standing up at critical moments in a WAFL game.

William Collins

Seven disposals, three marks, one tackle

First game back from a hamstring injury, he defended really well, it was good to get a game under his belt and we should see some real growth in the coming weeks.
