The towering figures of key defenders Jeremy McGovern and Tom Barrass – along with the medical sign-off for attacking spearhead Josh Kennedy – means the structure down the spine will take a familiar look for West Coast at Optus Stadium tomorrow.

As the Eagles prepare for an important clash with Adelaide, in front of a capacity crowd on home territory, McGovern and Barrass return after a fortnight sidelined through injury.

And Kennedy, who was subbed out of the game against Hawthorn at the MCG last Sunday with a sore calf, has been given the green light to play.

The return of those quality defenders, both of whom were important figures in the 2018 premiership, means that emerging defender Harry Edwards, who has held his end up in their absence, has lost his place and has been listed as an emergency.

Also making way is small forward Zac Langdon, who also sits outside the 22.

The Eagles will be looking to consolidate a run of solid form and establish a position inside the top eight.

The return of both Barrass and McGovern also provides options for coach Adam Simpson and his match committee.

Swingman Oscar Allen has played in defence in the last fortnight and has performed admirably, but can now push forward to provide the three-pronged tall assault that was so dangerous earlier in the year.

With Kennedy and Jack Darling they could stretch the Crows defence. Alternatively, Allen can also be swung into the ruck to support Nic Naitanui.
