The West Coast Eagles will be front and centre in a number of feature matches in the first part of the AFL season after the first six rounds were revealed today.
After learning last week that the club would open its 2021 campaign against the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday, March 21 the extended fixture release highlighted Eagles fixtures on Friday and Saturday nights, including matches against 2020 grand finalists Geelong and other highly-performed teams Port Adelaide, Collingwood, Western Bulldogs and St Kilda.
West Coast matches at Optus Stadium will feature a round three game against Port Adelaide on Saturday evening, April 3 while the clash with the Pies will be on Friday night, April 16.
The Eagles will travel to Marvel Stadium to play the Bulldogs (March 28), St Kilda at the same venue on Saturday, April 10 and Geelong at GMHBA on Saturday, April 24.
While the days and times of other matches have not yet been locked away, the AFL did disclose the opponents for other games, with details to be confirmed at a later date. Full disclosure of match details beyond round six will not be known until the 2021 season begins.
The club’s home derby will be against Fremantle in round seven.
Other significant factors in the fixture are as follows:
- Double up matches against Fremantle, St Kilda, Collingwood, Western Bulldogs and Adelaide
- Two matches in Sydney - against the Giants in round 10 and Swans in round 16
- Six matches in Melbourne
- Playing premier Richmond at Optus Stadium in round 14
- The last qualifying game against Brisbane at the Gabba
