The West Coast Eagles and premiership forward Daniel Venables will continue to work towards the premiership forward’s full recovery despite delisting him today.
Venables has made good progress in the last few months as he recovers from the significant brain trauma injury he suffered in the round nine game against Melbourne at Optus Stadium on May 17, 2019.
He has not played since but has taken some very positive steps forward, particularly over the past six months, including a training support role for several weeks in the Eagles’ first stint in a Queensland hub this season.
Despite losing his position on the senior list, West Coast list manager Darren Glass said the club remained hopeful of Venables playing in the blue and gold again.
“We remain committed to helping Dan strive to play senior football at our club again,” Glass said.
“But, as it has been since the incident, our primary focus remains Dan’s health and wellbeing.
“We will continue to explore with the AFL the options available to us to facilitate Dan’s return to senior football with us as soon as he is medically cleared to do so.”
