More than 100 eager Rick’s Rookies and Eagles Rising Stars members descended on Mineral Resources Park last week for the club's 2020 Junior Member Coaching Clinic.
Due to state government quarantine directions following their return from the Queensland hub, the AFL playing group was unable to attend, but the event kicked off with a video message from popular ruckman Nic Naitanui.
Following a welcome from star AFLW player Dana Hooker, who doubled as the event MC, the junior members made their way onto the oval to begin a series of football activities and drills.
Rick’s Rookies members took part in five different activities run by AFLW players and West Coast Eagles staff and volunteers.
The future football stars kicked, handballed and marked their way across the very same oval trained on by their West Coast Eagles heroes while picking up some tips to improve their game and having fun in the process.
Game Development Officer Jacob Brennan and AFLW defender Sophie McDonald put Rising Stars members through their paces in a session based on a West Coast Eagles academy training session.
Everyone’s favourite eagle Rick the Rock also made an appearance, posing for photos and helping the members practice their football skills.
The West Coast Eagles would like to thank all the Rookies and Rising Stars members who joined us at the coaching clinic and hope everyone had a great time.
