Emerging defender Josh Rotham says this Sunday's contest against last year's Grand Finalists will be another massive test for the Eagles backline.
Greater Western Sydney sit just outside the top eight, level with Melbourne on points but behind on percentage.
The Eagles have won the past three over the Giants but Rotham has cautioned on taking any side lightly in 2020.
"They've shown the past few years they are a really good side and with the shorter quarters this year you can't be sleeping on any opposition," Rotham said on 6PR Radio.
The return of star defender Jeremy McGovern against Hawthorn was a boost to the backline and provided some important leadership to a young but improving defense.
"The way he reads the play and his marking, having him back in the team is great."
McGovern and Tom Barrass have been standouts this season but Rotham has also delivered some big grabs in recent weeks as the 22 year old West Perth product continues to build his confidence.
He has played four games this season, doubling his career tally, while displaying a clean pair of hands and sure decision making in the defensive 50.
"Obviously there is no WAFL games so some times it has been tough in the little scrimmages so to get my opportunity the last few weeks has been good."
