After several injury setbacks at the beginning of the season that threw the team’s finals hopes into question, the West Coast Eagles have this year proven that they are able to dig deep in the face of adversity.
Being the Cinderella story of 2011, all eyes were on West Coast as the season kicked off. That mounting pressure, paired with the loss of the team’s three leading goalkickers and a former Norm Smith medallist, could have seen the West Coast Eagles become the easybeats of 2012.
But the club has demonstrated enormous grit and determination - and now asks you to join us in digging even deeper.
When the West Coast Eagles take on the Brisbane Lions at Patersons Stadium on Sunday, July 29, the club will be dedicating the match to digging deep for Cancer Council WA. The round 18 clash is the West Coast Eagles official Dig Deep Day, where the team is urging fans to support them in the fight against cancer.

West Coast defender and Cancer Council WA ambassador, Beau Waters, is encouraging members and fans to show their support at the game and wear their West Coast Eagles Dig Deep wristbands.
“The club has been supporting Cancer Council WA for eight years now, and Dig Deep Day is our biggest fundraising initiative for the year,” the vice-captain said.
“Unfortunately, cancer is a disease that touches almost every one of us in some way - whether it be our friends, family members or ourselves. Helping find a cure for our nation’s biggest killer is something that’s very important to the club, and to me as well.
“Wristbands are available from today until the end of July at Caltex stores, the West Coast Eagles Team Store, as well as around the ground on Dig Deep Day. All proceeds will go straight to Cancer Council WA to help fund cancer research.
“As a bit of a bonus for our fans as well, with every wristband purchase, Caltex will put you in to the draw to win one of six signed framed Eagles guernseys,” Waters added.
"You just have to write your name and contact details on the back of your Caltex receipt, and Caltex will put in the draw to win one the guernseys."
