Foodbank WA is continually forging partnerships between business, the food industry, government and the community to help find solutions to the problem of hunger and poor nutrition in the West Australian community.

And we are very pleased to announce that the West Coast Eagles Football Club has agreed to become ambassadors of the Foodbank Schools Breakfast Club program, promoting the healthy food message and acting as sporting role models to children across the State.

Team members will participate in various events and provide West Coast Eagles promotional items such as autographed posters and footballs as prizes for state wide school promotions.

Deane Pieters, West Coast Eagles General Manager – Marketing, was thrilled to confirm his club’s ambassadorship.

“The West Coast Eagles proudly welcomes Foodbank WA and Diabetes Australia WA to its family of community partners through the 2006 United Way Sports Charity Program,” he said.

“We acknowledge the wonderful support our club has received from the WA community throughout its 20 seasons in the competition, identifying its roles and responsibilities as a community leader as priority.

“Foodbank WA and Diabetes Australia WA join The Cancer Council WA and Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation as the major beneficiaries of our community involvement in 2006.

“Foodbank’s events and programs will be assisted by the West Coast Eagles through the donation of merchandise, player involvement and appearances, fundraising, brand association and promotion.”
