What the club says
West Coast recruiting manager Trevor Woodhouse was delighted to boost his list by adding some much-needed height
Draft summary
"It was a good balance for us because we lost a lot of tall blokes over the last 12 months, with Seaby and Staker going out, along with and Wilkes and Spangher. Dean Cox is also getting on and his body's not holding up as it used to.
"It was a good mix for us and to get two bigger guys, we were pretty happy with that. I'm not one to believe that these kids are going to step up and change our team next year. You really should be drafting for the year after, or even the year after that."
Selection No.4: Andrew Gaff (Oakleigh Chargers)
Player profile
"His form last year was great in the under-18s and there was a game for Oakleigh that I saw early this year in which he was terrific. He got tagged later in the season in a game down at Geelong and they tried about four blokes rotating off him. He got belted a bit and he just kept going. He might not look as flashy as some players, but as far as a footballer goes he doesn't do a lot wrong."
Selection No.26: Jack Darling (West Perth)
Player profile
"Jack's played two years of senior footy and he's got a body that's big and strong. He's a little bit different. He's got a lot of potential and he's a bit of wildcard really. He's very talented and we'll see what comes of him. It's up to him now.
"I think it was between him and David Swallow for who were 17-year-old gurus last year. We were rapt to get him and we hope he'll be a bit of a bargain. But bargains are only good - like speculative shares - if they go up!"
Selection No.29: Scott Lycett (Port Adelaide Magpies)
Player profile
"He's a very athletic kid for his size - quick and agile. He's a ruckman but he probably played more of his junior footy as a key forward. But he's now over 200cms so he's going to do a lot of ruckwork. He's also 98kgs, so physically he's almost ready to step up in play in the AFL straight away."
Selection No.62: Jacob Brennan (father/son, East Fremantle)
Player profile
"Jacob is 20 and he's been late in getting serious about his footy. He played a year of senior footy this year and really improved a lot. He's quick for his height and he has a real crack. He's prepared to take them on and run and carry the ball. He's exciting and gives us a little bit more pace and run."
